The Institute of Sales Technology Management (ISTM) is now restructured to recognize Professional Competence at Higher Levels.

It sets the standards for Education, Training and Experience leading to its Titles – AMISTM, MISTM  and FISTM. Like before, Membership of the Institute is by Examination.

The Council and Board of Examiners are the ultimate arbiters with regards to the Institute’s Awards which are recognized by the Federal Ministry of Education and the Federal Ministry of Employment Labour and Productivity

ISTM Examinations & Structure

Exam Sessions: Twice yearly – June & November

Intermediate (Level II)

Subjects include:

  • Cost Accounting
  • Information Technology
  • Fundamentals of Marketing
  • Logistics

Final (Level III)

Subjects include:

  • Advanced Salesmanship
  • Marketing Practice
  • Advertising & Sales Promotion
  • Business Economics
  • Public Relations
  • Fundamentals of Accounting
  • Business Management
  • Project Work

ENTRY REQUIREMENT
To apply for ISTM Professional Examinations, candidates must:
Be 19 years and above
Hold an OND, HND, NCE, First Degree or relevant professional qualifications
Or, possess G.C.E O’Level plus 5 years work experience
ISTM Members and Students come from all sectors of the economy and include an increase numbers of Graduates.

However, the Institution will never lose sight that it has a responsibility to provide opportunities for those coming into Management from the shop -floor.
Such potential Managers can only succeed if they can prove their capability and that needs a comprehensive grounding in the skills and knowledge of selling and sales Management.

Personal skills are the key to good Management whether the organization is a small company, an International Company, or an International Corporation or a Government Department.

ISTM provides Vocational Alternative to Academic Qualifications at the same level.

People cannot call themselves Medical Practitioners, Lawyers or indeed Physiotherapists unless they belong to an appropriate Professional Body.
Membership of ISTM confers professional credibility, as the standards are rigorous including Examinations.
Members are subjected to the Institute’s code of conduct as almost every class of the Society is represented in the world of selling!!!

Many people enter Higher and Further Educational Institutions and they cannot get Jobs after qualifications. The common denominator is that these intelligent people do not possess Vocational Qualifications which help them to do their works better.
The institute of Sales Technology and Management (ISTM) Council asserts that ‘ the neglect of Sales Management is undoing of a Nation’s Economy and Livelihood

Why ISTM?

ISTM was established to further the status of Sales/ Marketing Personnel by Awarding an appropriate Certificate/ Diploma and Grades of Membership by Examinations and Direct Membership to qualified Candidates.
These qualifications provide evidence of Training and experience to employers.
The concept of Sustainable Development is Lifelong Learning (LLL) for All.

Professional Status is not gained merely by passing Examinations. MISTM is an evidence that a Sales Practitioner’s Professional Qualifications and Experience, have been approved by the Industry Veterans and this is a definitive measure of Knowledge and ability which brings MISTM in line with other recognized and Prestigious Professional Bodies Globally.
