As older people form an increasing large proportion of the population, we need to gain greater understanding of their needs and develop services to meet them. Hence, the establishment of Gerontology Nigeria Services – GNS International to enable students and Professionals to acquire the necessary understanding and skills to be able to inform Policy and develop appropriate services
GNS International is primarily concerned with Education for Older People and for Inter-generational Programmes, Education about Ageing, the Education of Professionals, Para- Professionals and Volunteers working with people and Personnel in the Health Sector generally.
It seems it’s role as that of Promoter of Research, Theory and Good Practices in relation to all aspects of Educational Gerontology ( Learning in later years) and Gerontological Education, (The Teaching of Gerontology)

MEMBERSHIP
Young adult are encouraged to join Gerontology Nigeria Services (GNS International) for study with University Department Status and for Cultural Travels.
Mental and Spiritual Activities (MSA), are the best means to fight Isolation and Marginalization of the Older Adults
Student will follow a really Academic Programme of Courses to learn and to socialize, meeting Older People for Personal and Social Development.
Inter-generational Courses are Highly encouraged, i.e. Job re-training, Computers, Music, Drama and other Vocational and Academic Courses.
Training of Health Workers is one of GNS International Priorities.
Gerontology Nigeria Services GNS International, has strong International Links not only for Exchange of ideas but for also raising enthusiasm for working with older people, for applied Research and Training across frontiers in working with Older Adults.

Pre – Retirement Preparation, remains GNS interest. Older People must be ready to give back their knowledge to the Community and future generations. Therefore, the role of the Elderly must be strengthened and NOT to be Replaced.
